A doula can provide constant emotional and physical support to the laboring couple, which promotes a positive birth experience to be remembered and celebrated throughout life. ~ 50% reduction in the cesarean rate
~ 25% shorter labor
~ 60% reduction in epidural requests
~ 40% reduction in pitocin use
~ 30% reduction in narcotics use
~ 30% reduction in forceps delivery
~ overall, 25% decrease in the length of labor
